 The R developers provide their own 4 target fortran compiler compatible
 with Xcode. There are instructions for how to build it here:
 http://r.research.att.com/tools/. Unfortunately it is a bit beyond my
 macports abilities. Until something similar is available in macports we
 are stuck with the UNIX version of R.
