 Actually, on machines that boot by default into the 64-bit kernel, such as
 current Mac Pros, "uname -m" (which is, if not overridden by a Makefile
 patch, what the OpenJDK makefiles use to determine the architecture)
 returns x86_64. I don't know if this is true of machines that do not boot
 by default into the 64-bit kernel but are forced to in one of the various
 ways of doing that.
