 The empty carbon variant is correct (or at least intended like that).
 All it does is not remove the stuff that the patches kill. In the
 beginning
 I thought more would be necessary; it is not. I kept it though because
 it is necessary for the dependencies, namely wxWidgets-python to
 cooperate.
 Furthermore it makes the behavior a bit more explicit and remind the user
 of the choice for the underlying toolkit. Now that I think of it it seems
 a lot less clever than initially. Please feel free to scratch it.
