 Have you tried -d32 or -d64 option, to force JVM run under 32bit or 64bit

 Don't know if it works on BSD (it seems to be Solaris only).

 If I understand correctly, macports prefers a universal version than a
 single 32bit / 64bit in your situation.[[BR]]
 So we may generate a universal dylib for OpenJDK and choose the right mode
 when JVM is started?[[BR]]

 Heard that Apple joined OpenJDK. Such a great news.
