 Thanks for the report. It looks like this is an upstream bug in the
 dependencies as the texlive package database shows no dependencies for
 fontspec, yet clearly it has some.

 I really don't want to add a dependency on texlive-latex-extra, because
 that would mean adding it to the default texlive+medium install, and it's
 a 300MB package.

 Looks like in the latest CTAN snapshot the kastrup package (which provides
 binhex.sty) has moved from latex-extra to generic-recommended, so perhaps
 we can update to that. Not sure there's anything we can do about the expl3
 dependency other than pulling in latex3 as a dependency...
