 1. download my [attachment:vile-9.8.diff vile-9.8.diff] patch from this
 ticket
   2. apply the patch to the vile portfile by running a command like this
 (using the correct path to wherever you downloaded the file on your
 computer):
 {{{
 sudo patch $(port file vile) < ~/Downloads/vile-9.8.diff
 }}}
  3. install the vile port:
 {{{
 sudo port install vile
 }}}
