 With these ports installed on Mac OS X 10.4.11 ppc
 {{{
 atlas @3.8.3_4+gcc44 (I don't think this has anything to do with anything)
 gimp2 @2.6.10_3+x11
 }}}

 I can't reproduce your problem.  So don't know what to tell you other than
 to upgrade to the latest gimp2 (2.6.11)
 and see if that doesn't give better results.

 Works for me.
