 This happens me too and I didn't even think about Xcode affecting it until
 I saw that this bug author also has Xcode installed.

 I get the exact same behavior on OS 10.6, latest updates, Xcode installed.

 Thank you for all the people who have provided solutions, will need to go
 through this whole thread once I get home.
