 I have the feeling that the QT4 include and lib files are not where they
 should be...

 In QT3 they are in $PREFIX/include/qt3 and now it looks like they got
 copied directly in $PREFIX/include.
 Same holds for the libs!!!

 Can it be that qt4-mac is misbehaving or simply different from QT3 before?
