 A thought crossed my mind, by the way; why isn't a detection of Snow
 Leopard added, in which case only Fortran would be disabled?

  Apparently, Fortran is what's causing issues; it's blocking several other
 packages such as GNUStep from building. So perhaps the maintainer of the
 GCC4.2 portfile should just kill Fortran?
