 libident's universal variant doesn't produce fully universal software:

 $ port installed libident
 The following ports are currently installed:
   libident @0.32_0+universal (active)
 $ lipo -info /opt/local/lib/libident.{a,dylib}
 Architectures in the fat file: /opt/local/lib/libident.a are: x86_64 i386
 Non-fat file: /opt/local/lib/libident.dylib is architecture: x86_64
 }}}

 The attached patch seems to fix this.

 $ port installed libident

   libident @0.32_0+universal
   libident @0.32_1+universal (active)
 $ lipo -info /opt/local/lib/libident.{a,dylib}
 Architectures in the fat file: /opt/local/lib/libident.a are: x86_64 i386
