Comment:

 You could probably get the selfupdate rsync to work if you updated
 rsync_server/rsync_dir in macports.conf, but you'd still have to do the
 Migration thing afterwards due to changing OS versions. I don't think it's
 worth the effort to make the upgrade path smoother for really old
 versions.
