 tried to install sox with the following command:
 $ sudo port install sox. reported:
 Failed during build of ffmpeg. log file contained this highlight:
 :info:build LD  libavutil/libavutil.50.dylib,
 :info:build ld: library not found for -lavutil.
 then tried "port info libavutil" and "avutil" but both came back not
 found. This on OS X 10.5.8.
