 I've just confirmed that gimp2 @2.6.10_3+no_x11+quartz using pango
 @1.24.5_0+no_x11+quartz
 shows the same problem, that is, gimp2 emits the following warnings

 Upgrading to 1.28.1 fixes the problem.
