 I tried port clean php5-iconv before posting a ticket and still got the
 same problem. I downgraded to 5.3.2, got Zend/Pdf running and put that
 machine in the datacenter so I can't retry on it. I do have another almost
 identical machine I can try to reproduce the problem with if you would
 find it helpful.
