 I tried to install swi-prolog-devel which gives the same problem. I also
 created a Portfile for SWI-Prolog 5.10.1 (see attachment), but it also
 gives the same problem. I reinstalled XQuartz, but this did not solve the
 problem.

 Compiling the latest version (5.11.4 currently) from Git causes no
 problem. The problem only occurs with MacPorts. I'm unsure why the results
 are different. If anyone can tell me what to look at, I can try to figure
 out what the difference is.

 This is on a fully updated Snow Leopard 10.6.4 with Macports 1.9.1.
