[MacPorts] #29201: 'port install/upgrade php5-curl' not working

i had the same problem. looked at /opt/local/bin/curl-config and found this

    --version)
        echo libcurl -
        exit 0
        ;;

near line 97, echo libcurl - should be the responding version number.
(i.e. 7.21.5)
