 Perhaps that is why the port did not print the error message. However,
 perhaps the real underlying problem still exists. Does it go away if you
 install the Java development headers? For Snow Leopard, the correct
 package to install is https://connect.apple.com/cgi-
 bin/WebObjects/MemberSite.woa/wa/getSoftware?bundleID=20719

 I installed the the "Java development headers" and the problem went away.
 I was able to install arb. Thanks
