Comment:

 At this time MacPorts is supposed to be retrieving the ports tree, using
 rsync. This can take some time if your network connection is slow. If
 rsync is completely blocked on your network, then it should produce an
 error, but in some situations I suppose it's possible you'd get a hang. It
 sounds like MacPorts is probably already installed at this point; you can
 quit the Installer. Use "sudo port -v sync" in the Terminal to get the
 ports tree; if you get an error message, that might tell us more about
 what's wrong. You may have to first set up your terminal environment
 properly; not sure what step in the installer would've taken care of that.
