Comment:

 "Since yesterday" sounds like a long time. I just updated scribus to
 1.4.0.rc5 in r82655; it built universal in 48 minutes on my 2.2 GHz Core 2
 Duo MacBook Pro. Please see if that version works for you. I did not try
 the python or podofo variants; if you still see the same problem, try
 without those variants and let us know.
