 I can't believe it - it ''was'' working with a fresh install of Lion, but
 I just tried a port upgrade outdated, and I'm getting that same issue
 again. Deleting /opt and reinstalling Macports doesn't help. So I'm back
 where I started, Macports is clearly conflicting with something I have
 installed on my system but I have no idea what.

 What exactly does Macports interact with outside of /opt ?
