 After installing nodejs, I noticed that the associated package manager,
 npm, is not being properly installed as indicated on the npmjs.org
 project's website.  Furthermore, after reading the issues on
 githib.com/joyent/nodejs, it appears that the issue is possible with an
 unstable version of npm which comes with nodejs.
