 I had the same problem. But it turned out that I had to download the
 fallowing version:
 ghc-6.8.3-powerpc-apple-darwin.2.tar.bz2
 and then it says that some libraries are missing so it installed with:
 "port install readline"
 and then it worked at least for me ;-)
