 As described in http:
 //comments.gmane.org/gmane.os.apple.macports.user/26112 the GUI  Porticus
 provided a feature where you got a list of all the ports that had become
 available since the last selfupdate. This feature made it quite easy to
 spot new interesting software.

 Would be nice if the ports command-line provided something similar
