 If you have software, for example an old version of libtiff, in /usr/local
 (for example in /usr/local/lib/libtiff.dylib or libtiff.a) then that could
 easily account for the problem. We do not support using MacPorts while
 software is installed in /usr/local because of the likelihood of these
 kinds of problems. So you should either install software in /usr/local
 (and not use MacPorts), or use MacPorts (and remove /usr/local).
