 I did not have any problems at when testing the patch myself. I only have
 one machine though, a MBpro running osx 10.6.6

 Could you confirm exactly what system you are running on, exactly what
 port command you used and can you upload the log file
 /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_mports_trunk_dports_science_root/main.log
 ?
