 I'd be open to alternative ways to do this.

 I created this in order to have the drush port depend on it.   My first
 thought would be to have the drush port depend on php52+pear and then call
 the pear install, but I didn't think I could depend on a specific variant.
 I could also just install this dependency directly in that port, but that
 seemed to be a bit at odds with the modularity that MacPorts allows.
