 I've submitted this upstream as well, but since I've found no other search
 hits on this issue either here, on ntop's bugzilla, or in forums, I wanted
 to submit this as informational until ntop's port gets updated from
 upstream.

 From a clean 'port install ntop' the port will build/install properly,
 including the dependencies on libevent (currently 2.0.10-stable).

 When attempting to run ntop the following message is seen:

 Thu Feb 17 15:54:28 2011  Initializing ntop
 Thu Feb 17 15:54:28 2011  **ERROR** You are using libevent 16637152
 whereas ntop needs at least v1.4
 Thu Feb 17 15:54:28 2011  **ERROR** Due to a libevent bug with IPv6
 address resolution
