 I would not be surprised if it's entirely due to the GCC version. There
 are other problems (in fact tickets I have open with KDE Bugs) where
 templates fail when using less than GCC 4.3. Of course, GCC above 4.2
 requires a non-Apple compiler which breaks all the `-arch` flags.
