 I'm having exactly the same problem with MacPorts 1.9.2 on Mac OS X
 10.6.6.

 I only get this error for py25-pip, the Python 2.5 version of pip. I tried
 to port install py26-pip and py27-pip and it worked fine for both
 packages.
