Comment:

 I still have this same problem with the new gnucash @2.4.0_0 (as with the
 last three or so versions of gnucash). Again, reverting to goffice
 @0.6.6_2 allows gnucash to load, and again, rebuilding gnucash does not
 solve the problem.

 In the absence of replies to the contrary, I've opened the ticket again.
