Comment:

 I can fetch this fine frm the
 `http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/FTP/software/fitsio/c/` site, could this be
 a temporary network issue?

 Can you try again but this time with the `-d` option to `port`, i.e.

 {{{
 sudo port -d fetch cfitsio
 }}}

 and see if any extra information is displayed.
