 I live in Hong Kong and when downloading GNU distfiles port will select
 ftp://ftp.dti.ad.jp as the mirror.  However the download rates for this
 mirror are very slow (~30kbps) from Hong Kong.  A much faster mirror is
 the AARNet mirror in Brisbane Australia.

 There seems to be no way to force port to use a particular mirror when
 downloading distfiles.  Setting MASTER_SITE_LOCAL has no impact.  Altering
 sources.conf also has no impact.

 As a workaround I have removed ftp.dti.ad.jp from mirrors.tcl and port is
 currently selecting the AARNet mirror as I prefer.  However this
 mirrors.tcl file will be overwritten the next time port selfupdate is run.

 I would like to suggest that there should be a way to override the
 selected mirror with a preferred mirror.  Either as a command-line option
 or an option in a configuration file.
