 You are right

 /opt/local/bin/latex -> /opt/local/bin/pdftex
 /opt/local/bin/pdftex -> /opt/local/libexec/texlive/binaries/pdftex
 /opt/local/libexec/texlive/binaries/pdftex is provided by: texlive-bin

 sudo port upgrade texlive-bin does not fix this problem
