 "/usr/bin/gcc-4.2" is the value of ${configure.cc} on Snow Leopard and is
 a fine compiler to use there. However, as you see from my log which I've
 now attached, it also, in at least one instance, tries to use "cc", which
 is the no-no described in UsingTheRightCompiler.
