 OK, with Timemachine and lot of pain I could restore the version of
 /opt/local/lib/pkgconfig/gio-2.0.pc from the middle of November. Now
 configure reports:

 {{{
 checking RSVG_CFLAGS... Package gobject-2.0 was not found in the pkg-
 config search path.
 Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gobject-2.0.pc'
 to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
 Package 'gobject-2.0', required by 'GIO', not found
 }}}

 Only more round through time machine?
