 This has been reproduced on Snow Leopard so if it's obviously not an issue
 with llvm as I'd previously thought.
 Rebuilding seems to make it work the second time round. (not sure how that
 can work)

 the only way i've been able to reproduce the error is
 sudo port -f uninstall installed
 sudo port selfupdate
 sudo port install eggdbus
