 So just to help others who find this bug before it's fixed, to get things
 working you need to install and select a macports version of python (not
 an apple one):

 {{{
 $ port install python26
 $ port select python python26
 $ port install py26-libxml2
 }}}

 … then the mesa build will succeed.
