 I wouldn't mind using gcc45 or gcc46 - I'm actually in need of pygtk - and
 these packages depend on gcc44.
 A workaround that worked for me is to remove the "i386" architecture
 definition from macports.conf -
 but there are users waiting for pure 32bit builds...
