Thanks. I looked for that but somehow managed to miss it.

I see, libfuse is loading the kext directly, so it does need to go into
/System. IIRC, MacFUSE invoked a setuid binary to do so, I figured you
were doing the same.

http://guide.macports.org/#development.examples.startupitem It means that
libfuse should not even try to load the kext by itself as we assume kext
is loaded all the time.
I'm having trouble parsing this. It doesn't seem like there's any really
compelling reason to force it to load at boot.
