 I don't have atlas installed, and slepc installs without a hitch. Does the
 problem go away if you deactivate atlas before installing slepc? If it
 turns out that this interaction between atlas and slepc is the problem,
 how can I either force use of the system-installed version of LAPACK or
 make it work correctly with atlas? SLEPC's build system is rather non-
 standard, so it's hard to figure out how to make it do The Right Thing.
