 Well, if you figure out what Ubuntu is doing differently, supply a patch.
 The gthumb port has no maintainer so it's unlikely to be fixed otherwise.
 Ubuntu is also shipping 2.11.3 in its stable release, not 2.12.2, so
 unless you're using Natty I wouldn't be so quick to rule out an upstream
 bug.
