Comment:

 Shoot. I saw that too initially, but thought I had overcome it with
 `build.env TERM=xterm`. My understanding was that it was looking for a
 TERM environment variable, which doesn't exist when building via MacPorts,
 so I just set it to a common value, and it then worked on my system. But I
 see you're getting the error in the destroot phase, not the build phase.
 See if r77342 has helped.
