 My guess is this is a stale ticket.  I do not remember experiencing a hang
 during the build stage for any version, and the latest (3.0.6) has been
 working fine for me.  I will be happy to troubleshoot a bit if there is
 more information.

 In any case (getting off topic), can the developers please finish
 committing the other portfile patches on ticket #27016?
