 my build procedure was:
  1. sudo port selfupdate
  2. sudo port clean virtualbox
  3. apply apple-gcc-4.2-patch to apple-gcc-4.2
  4. apply isysroot-patch to virtualbox
  5. sudo port install virtualbox
