 Abiword 2.8.6 (based on the portfile patch provided by rudloff) builds
 from source and installs without errors on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (i386). Afaict
 the application works as expected (though I haven't tested it beyond
 launching and using some basic text editing functions).

 I'd be interested in a GTK+ variant for the port, based on GTK+/X11 (and
 optionally, if supported upstream, on GTK+/Quartz).
