Comment:

 It seems actually it's pkgconfig that failed to build, which is rather
 unusual and almost certainly indicates a problem on your system, since
 thousands of people would be complaining if pkgconfig were truly broken
 since it's a dependency of nearly everything else.

 Please clean pkgconfig, selfupdate, and try again. If it fails again,
 attach the main.log file.
