 Given the statements made in
 https://issues.asterisk.org/jira/browse/ASTERISK-18213 I would highly
 recommend this change, and ditching my previous suggestion.

 Currently 1.8.7 does not have the required support for Lion, but the
 patches required could be manually applied, or this could be held until
 the release of 1.8.8, or a combination of both.
