Comment:

 Thanks for your assistance, however none of it seems to work and the issue
 still remains unresolved.

 The applications launches just and doesn't crash at any time. Its when I
 try to perform an "import" operation, the directory listing doesn't appear
 and the below error message is thrown -

 "Could not start process Cannot talk to klauncher: The name
 org.kde.klauncher was not provided by any .service files."

 I have attached a screenshot of the error message for reference.
