Comment:

 This is because you are using a developer preview of Xcode 4.2, which
 doesn't contain any version of gcc. I thought we had worked around the
 problem by depending on the apple-gcc42 port in this case but I had
 forgotten about the architecture issues. I wonder if we could just skip
 the archcheck for apple-gcc42. What happens if you try the attached patch?
